Extensive description: It is possible to see the condensation of symbolism with a modernist expression, where the undeniable influence of Émile Verhaeren is noted. Apollinaire played a leading role in the avant-garde movements that would renew the way of making art. The first poem of the book, "Zona", opens new topics for the writer: the song to modernity and the experience of cities as a poetic space. Here his search for new aesthetic possibilities for poetry is noted; he affirms himself as a formalist in the absence of punctuation and a provocateur of poetic sonority, as in the famous poem "The Bridge of Mirabeau". His verses are characterized by the inclusion of syllogisms and an avant-garde hermetism based on evocation. Apollinaire, above all, was the leading figure of the literary avant-garde of his time and would get new poetic motifs integrated into the tradition. In this book, which we present in Agustí Bartra's translation, it goes beyond the particular experience, to concentrate on a new and European vision of art. Giuseppe Ungaretti was not wrong when he said of him that it could have been everything, but "he could never be a nationalist".
