Short description. It is a journalistic story about the unresolved murder of the Peruvian Luis Banchero, a fishing businessman.

Extensive description. On January 1, 1972, Luis Banchero Rossi, the richest man in South America, was stabbed to death in his country house on the outskirts of Lima. This was the inauguration of one of the great judicial enigmas of the continent and ended a huge adventure because Banchero, son of poor Genoese immigrants and dead at 42 years of age, had built the largest fishing industry in the world.

Who killed Banchero, whose factories produced more fishmeal than the Soviet Union or Japan? Guillermo Thorndike shows us how a perfect murder is organized.

The Banchero case is not only a new classic among the great reports to crime and intrigue, but a denunciation against the systems of police and judicial investigation. Throughout its pages revive adventurers, navigators, speculators, hard businessmen who arrived in Peru from all over the world while the destruction of Luis Banchero Rossi is woven. With mastery of a great narrator, Thorndike enters the sordid human labyrinth to find, in the last room, an incredible unresolved puzzle.
